Rookie Ward hopes to be involved in Titans' coaching search
Quarterback Cam Ward expressed his desire Wednesday to be part of the Tennessee Titans' selection process for a new head coach.
"I want to meet all of them," Ward said of the eventual candidates, according to team reporter Jim Wyatt. "Every coach who's going to get the opportunity to come here, I want to meet them, have conversations throughout the whole process with them because that's someone that I'm going to be here with for that time."
Tennessee parted ways with Brian Callahan in October following a 1-5 start in his second season. The decision came as the franchise felt a lack of team growth.
The Titans' struggles have continued under interim coach Mike McCoy. Tennessee owns a 2-12 record with three games remaining.
Ward shared that president of football operations Chad Brinker and general manager Mike Borgonzi have discussed his potential participation in the search.
Ward, the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has had a modest start to his pro career. The Miami product has passed for 2,638 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions with a 59% completion rate. He's been sacked 49 times through 14 games, tied for the most in the NFL.
The Titans face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
