Jets fire DC Wilks after blowout loss to Jaguars
The New York Jets dismissed defensive coordinator Steve Wilks following Sunday's 48-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Aaron Glenn announced Monday.
Defensive backs coach and pass-game coordinator Chris Harris will serve as interim defensive coordinator. Glenn plans to help Harris throughout the week as the team prepares to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
"This decision that I made late last night, and I talked to (Wilks) this morning, and I felt like it was the best decision for the organization at this time," Glenn said. "And I've said this all along, that I'm evaluating players, I'm evaluating coaches, I'm evaluating myself, and I just felt like this was the best decision."
Coach Glenn announced he relieved DC Steve Wilks of his duties.
