Chargers' Slater carted off at practice with apparent leg injury
Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater was carted off at practice Thursday with an apparent left leg injury, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper.
Trainers attended to Slater on the ground before he was placed on the cart. Some teammates came up to hug him before he headed to the locker room, Popper added.
Slater, 26, signed a four-year, $114-million extension this offseason with $92 million guaranteed. His $28.5-million average annual salary is the highest for an offensive lineman in NFL history.
The Northwestern product suited up in 15 contests last season, earning Pro Bowl honors while allowing three sacks and 22 pressures in 244 pass-blocking snaps, according to PFF.
Slater has started 51 games since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2021. He missed the final 14 games of the 2022 season due to a torn biceps.
