Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin did not report to training camp Tuesday amid an impasse in extension negotiations, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McLaurin missed the Commanders' conditioning test Tuesday. He requested a new contract as he goes into the final season of a three-year, $68-million deal he signed in 2022.

The star wideout expressed frustration earlier in July with the lack of momentum toward an agreement. "Without any progress in discussions, it's kind of hard to see how I step on the field," he said.

McLaurin skipped mandatory minicamp and some voluntary workouts this spring.

General manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn anticipated McLaurin would report Tuesday with his teammates.

"Just like with all of our players, we expect him to be here today," Peters said, according to the Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala.

McLaurin's established himself as Washington's top pass-catcher since being drafted in 2019. The former third-round pick has recorded six consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns and hauled in a career-high 13 touchdowns last year. The Ohio State product is considered a core piece of the franchise alongside rising quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders remain optimistic that the two sides will eventually reach an agreement.

"First, without a doubt, I think everybody in this building values Terry very much," Peters said. "We knew that coming in and we know that even more after spending a year with him. ... We'll do whatever we can to get a deal done."
