Bills release Miller, reportedly open to bringing him back
The Buffalo Bills have released pass-rusher Von Miller, the team announced Sunday.
The move frees up $8.4 million against the cap, but Buffalo is open to bringing him back on a new deal, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Miller has been with the Bills since he signed a six-year, $120-million deal with $51.4 million guaranteed in 2022. The deal was constructed with no guaranteed salary remaining after the first three seasons.
The 35-year-old got off to a hot start in his first campaign with the Bills, totaling eight sacks and 12 quarterback hits in his first 11 games. However, he suffered a torn ACL in December that would sideline him until October 2023. He didn't record a sack in 12 games after returning from injury that season.
Miller was suspended for four contests last campaign after violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. He racked up six sacks in 13 regular-season games while playing 33% of Buffalo's defensive snaps.
The Denver Broncos selected the Texas A&M product second overall in the 2011 draft. He's earned three first-team All-Pro nods during his 13-year NFL run and is considered one of the best pass-rushers of his era.
The Super Bowl 50 MVP has 129.5 sacks in 186 career games.
