Lions' Hutchinson: Teaming up with Garrett would be 'deadly'

Imagine a Detroit Lions defensive line consisting of Aidan Hutchinson and Myles Garrett. Hutchinson, for his part, has been thinking about it quite a bit.

"If me and Myles were to pair up, that would be deadly, you know?" the pass-rusher said on "The Squeeze" podcast. "I was talking to him, we were at the (NFL) Honors and we were just talking about what could be. And although it's probably unlikely, I think I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen. But, yeah, our whole D-line would be totally elevated, and that'd be a scary defensive line."

The 29-year-old Garrett has racked up 102.5 sacks over his eight-year career and was named Defensive Player of the Year after a 14-sack campaign in 2023. Meanwhile, Hutchinson appeared to be on track for his first DPOY title after recording 7.5 sacks through five games in 2024 before suffering a broken tibia in October, which ended his season.

Garrett asked the Cleveland Browns for a trade earlier this month, hoping to land with a Super Bowl contender. The Browns pass-rusher has two years left on the five-year, $125-million extension he signed in 2020.

Hutchinson isn't the only NFC star chasing Garrett: Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher Micah Parsons also expressed interest in teaming up with Cleveland's edge rusher.
