Seahawks hire Saints' Kubiak as OC
The Seattle Seahawks are hiring Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator to replace Ryan Grubb, the team announced Sunday.
Kubiak served as the New Orleans Saints' offensive coordinator in 2024. New Orleans' offense started the season hot but couldn't maintain its success while dealing with several injuries to starters, including quarterback Derek Carr.
The Saints ranked 21st in total yards and 24th in points scored in 2024.
In Seattle, Kubiak will inherit an offense that averaged only 22 points per game in its first year under Grubb's watch. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith finished the 2024 campaign with 15 interceptions, his most in a season since his rookie year in 2013. The team fired Grubb on Jan. 6 after missing the playoffs with a 10-7 record.
This will be Kubiak's third different stint as an offensive coordinator. He also coached the Minnesota Vikings' offense in 2021.
The Saints had yet to officially part ways with Kubiak, but his future in New Orleans became uncertain with the team having yet to hire a new head coach who could put together a brand-new staff.
Kubiak also had an interview with the Browns, but Cleveland ultimately promoted Tommy Rees to fill its OC vacancy.
