Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni believes Super Bowl LIX elevated defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to legendary status.

"I think he cemented his legacy as the best defensive coordinator of all time," Sirianni told reporters Monday, including Zach Berman of PHLY.

Fangio's unit forced six sacks, three turnovers, and limited the Chiefs to 49 offensive plays and 12 first downs in the 40-22 win. Philly was also credited with 11 quarterback hits and four pass deflections.

Cornerback Cooper DeJean contributed to the score, returning his first NFL interception for a touchdown.

Fangio joined the Eagles ahead of the 2024 campaign after spending the 2023 season as the Miami Dolphins' DC. Philadelphia finished the regular season with the No. 1 defense in yards (278.4) and No. 2 defense in points allowed (17.8) per game.

Fangio has also held NFL defensive coordinator positions with the Carolina Panthers (1995-98), the Indianapolis Colts (1999-2001), the Houston Texans (2002-05), the San Francisco 49ers (2011-14), and the Chicago Bears (2015-18). His lone head coaching job was with the Denver Broncos from 2019-21.

The 66-year-old's defenses have finished top 10 in yardage and scoring 11 times. He's fielded top-10 units in turnovers nine times.
