Seahawks move on from OC Grubb after 1 season
The Seattle Seahawks parted ways with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after one season, head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Monday, according to team reporter John Boyle.
Macdonald explained the decision as feeling like the direction of the offense was going "different than the vision I had for our team," though he credited Grubb as a "heck of a football coach."
Grubb replaced Shane Waldron and made minor improvements with the Seahawks' offense, with their points per game average increasing from 21.4 in 2023 to 22.1 in 2024. The unit also rose from 21st in yardage to 14th under Grubb.
The Seahawks missed the playoffs for a second straight season despite a 10-7 record in 2024. Quarterback Geno Smith posted a career-high 70.4% completion percentage as a starter in his lone year under Grubb, but his 15 interceptions were his most since his rookie year.
Grubb previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Washington Huskies in the NCAA before making the leap to the NFL.
