Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson says he could barely walk last week due to a back injury that forced him to miss Sunday's loss against the New York Giants.

"Last week was tough," Richardson told reporters. "I couldn't even stand up on Tuesday. Could barely even walk, you know, crawling around the house but I'm here, I'm standing now.

Richardson added: "If I could do everything in my power to get on the field, I'm (going) to do so. That was my mindset last week as well, but I could barely move."

The second-year quarterback says an MRI revealed a disk issue is causing his back injury and it isn't the first time it's flared up.

"I've been dealing with stuff like this since about eighth grade, but it's never been this severe," Richardson said. "It was definitely a little scary last week, not being able to move."

The 22-year-old says he's looking forward to returning for the season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars if he's able to. He's thrown eight touchdowns to 12 interceptions with another six scores on the ground this campaign.

Richardson didn't practice all week and was deemed questionable before being downgraded to out for the matchup against the Giants. Head coach Shane Steichen initially described the injury as soreness.

The Colts' loss to the Giants in Week 17 eliminated them from playoff contention.
