Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew is out for the season after breaking his collarbone against the Denver Broncos, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Desmond Ridder will likely be the team's starting quarterback going forward after finishing Sunday's contest in relief of Minshew, but Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said postgame that Aidan O'Connell might be activated off injured reserve ahead of Friday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to The Athletic's Tashan Reed.

O'Connell started one game earlier this year before being placed on IR with a broken thumb suffered in October.

The 28-year-old Minshew sustained the injury late in the fourth quarter after being sacked by Broncos linebackers Cody Barton and Jonathon Cooper. He was able to walk off the field and didn't return to the game. Minshew had previously been sacked twice by the Broncos' defense.

He'll undergo further testing to determine the injury's severity, but it "doesn't look good," Pierce added, per Reed.

The quarterback signed a two-year, $25-million deal with the Raiders in March. He was named the team's starting quarterback in August.

Minshew has started nine of the Raiders' first 10 games this season. He was 25-for-42 passing for 230 yards, one touchdown, and one interception before leaving Sunday's game.

The Raiders have a short week before playing the rival Chiefs on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
