Nabers: Giants have been 'soft as f--k,' not QB's fault

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers didn't mince words after the team's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, saying that the Giants have been playing "soft as f--k."

"I mean, it's just soft, man," Nabers told reporters, including NJ.com's Ryan Novozinsky. "I'm tired of going out there and losing."

The 21-year-old rookie wasn't targeted until the second half of Sunday's 30-7 loss, finishing with six receptions for 64 yards.

"First, second quarter, I don't get the ball," Nabers said. "I mean, can't do nothing. Start getting the ball when it's 30-0. What do you want me to do?"

He added, "Obviously, it ain't the quarterback. Same outcome when we had (Daniel Jones) at quarterback. Take a look: It ain't the quarterback."

The Giants named third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito as the starter against Tampa Bay on Thursday over former starter Jones and second-string quarterback Drew Lock. The team formally waived Jones on Saturday after he requested his release Friday.

Despite the blowout loss, head coach Brian Daboll said postgame that DeVito will start for New York on Thanksgiving against the Dallas Cowboys. DeVito was 21-for-31 passing for 189 yards and was sacked four times Sunday.

The Giants are last in the league in points per game (15.6) and 23rd in total yards per game (327.5).

New York selected Nabers in the first round earlier this year, and he's been a breakout star for the team. Nabers has 607 yards and three touchdowns.

The Giants are currently 2-9 and last in the NFC East. They'll look to rebound against the Cowboys on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
