Giants owner anticipates Daboll, Schoen returning in 2025

New York Giants owner John Mara said he's planning on keeping head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen for at least one more season.

"Obviously, we're all very disappointed with where we are right now," Mara recently said, according to Doug Rush of GMenHQ. "But I'm gonna say one thing: We are not making any changes this season. And I do not anticipate making any changes in the offseason, either."

Daboll entered the season on the hot seat, and the Giants haven't done much to ease some pressure off the sideline boss. New York is 2-5 in 2024 while ranking in the bottom five in total points and yards. The club is 17-23-1 under Daboll, who was hired in 2022.

"It's very difficult because the last 10 or 12 years have not been very good for fans, and it makes it particularly difficult," Mara added, according to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. "But you got to do the right thing, and we're committed to doing that and seeing this process through."

The Giants made the playoffs in Daboll's first year in charge but have since regressed. Quarterback Daniel Jones also hasn't done much since signing a four-year, $160-million deal in March 2023.

The 27-year-old has posted only an 80.6 passer rating in 2024 with six touchdown passes against four interceptions after missing most of last season due to a torn ACL.

Mara didn't discuss Jones' future in his most recent comments, according to Judy Battista of NFL.com. But the 69-year-old executive said in August that he doesn't regret the passer's extension, which keeps him under contract through the 2026 season but doesn't include any guaranteed salary after 2024.
