Fields: Ravens, Chargers, Raiders called Bears about trade

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields revealed that the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders were among the teams that discussed trading for him when he was a member of the Chicago Bears.

"I'm not sure of all the teams, but there were a lot of teams that had already had solidified quarterbacks there, and I didn't want to do that," Fields revealed during an appearance on "Not Just Football with Cam Heyward." "I think Chargers was one, Ravens was another ... Raiders, they talked a little bit. I don't know too much ... But a lot of teams, they already had solidified quarterbacks, they just got new contracts, so I wasn't really trying to be there."

Fields added that he had a feeling he was going to get traded by the Bears after his exit meetings following the 2023 season. Chicago held the No. 1 overall pick for a second straight season, giving the franchise the opportunity to select USC star quarterback Caleb Williams.

"After the season, you have your little exit meetings, and we've been dealing with people, coaches our whole life, so you know how to read somebody," Fields explained. "They said, 'You know we're in a tricky situation right here, a situation that we've never been in.' But, we were in the same situation the year before because we had the No. 1 pick the year before with the (Carolina) Panthers."

Fields was acquired by the Steelers this offseason for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick. He's found immediate success in Pittsburgh, leading the team to its first 3-0 start since 2020.

The former No. 11 overall pick lost the Steelers' quarterback job to veteran Russell Wilson in training camp but has been QB1 due to the latter aggravating a calf injury before Week 1.

Fields has completed a career-high 73.3% of his passes for 518 yards with two touchdowns and one interception with the Steelers. He's also rushed for 90 yards and a score.
