Report: Multiple teams interested in trade for Panthers' Young

Several teams have contacted the Carolina Panthers to express interest in trading for quarterback Bryce Young, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

In addition, other teams have mulled the possibility of trading for Young within their own organization, Schefter reports.

Head coach Dave Canales said earlier this week that the team doesn't plan to trade the former No. 1 overall pick despite benching him after Week 2. However, it's widely believed that it's only a matter of time before Carolina deals the passer, with the most likely time coming this offseason, sources told Schefter.

The Panthers want Young to back up Andy Dalton for now but believe they could turn to Young again depending on how things go in the upcoming weeks, Schefter adds.

Young, 23, is 2-16 as a starter, which is the worst mark through 18 games of any quarterback selected No. 1 in the Super Bowl era, per ESPN research. He said Thursday that he was surprised by the benching but acknowledged his shortcomings so far during his career.

The Alabama product is reportedly "open to anything" regarding staying in Carolina or being traded.

Young completed 31 of 56 pass attempts for 245 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions through two games this season while completing 55.4% of his passes. The 5-foot-10, 204-pound passer was scrutinized following his rookie campaign in 2023 where he threw 11 TDs and 10 INTs.
