Bryce Young's play under center may have hit a new rock bottom Sunday, but the Carolina Panthers aren't ditching him as their starting quarterback.

After the Panthers' 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Dave Canales said Young will get the nod again in Week 3.

"Bryce is our quarterback," Canales told reporters, according to ESPN's David Newton. "We're going to continue to shore (up) and fix the things we need to - fundamentally, from a scheme standpoint, all those things."

Young averaged just 3.2 yards per pass in Sunday's loss as he compiled 84 yards and one interception. The former No. 1 overall pick was booed by the Panthers faithful due to his poor play.

The quarterback said he understands fans' frustration.

"I respect the passion that the city has for the team," Young said. "Obviously, that's a part of it."

The Panthers are 0-2 to start the season and have been outscored 73-13. Young owns a 2-16 record with 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as a starter since entering the NFL.
