Dolphins' Beckham to start season on PUP list

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will start the season on the physically unable to perform list, the team announced Tuesday.

Beckham will miss at least the first four games of the season. He underwent surgery on an undisclosed injury this offseason, and the club was aware a PUP list stint was a possibility before it signed the veteran wideout, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Beckham's injury doesn't make him nervous, and the team is taking it day by day.

"I'm hopeful about a lot of things, again I'm not nervous about it," McDaniel told reporters regarding Beckham's injury following the team's final preseason game, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

He added, "I know he's feeling very optimistic about how things are developing, but you just take it one day at a time. Like I said before, I'm not at a position of nervousness because of the way he's been involved."

Miami signed Beckham to a one-year, $3-million deal in May. The 31-year-old spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, totaling 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 contests.

Outside of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins have Braxton Berrios and Malik Washington on their WR depth chart. River Cracraft is on injured reserve and will miss regular-season time with an upper-body injury.
