Smith breaks Ohio State's all-time receiving record

Jeremiah Smith stands alone in Ohio State's storied history of wide receivers.

Smith is now the all-time leader in receiving yards in program history following a 23-yard reception Saturday in the first quarter against Kent State, pushing him past Michael Jenkins' career total of 2,898.

With plenty of the season left, Smith is sure to put significant distance between himself and Jenkins on the list.

The five-star prospect arrived in Columbus with major hype and immediately exceeded lofty expectations, posting 76 catches for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024. He turned in another standout campaign in 2025, hauling in 87 catches for 1,243 yards and 12 scores.

Saturday's record likely won't be the only one Smith eclipses this season. He entered the game just 26 catches behind Emeka Egbuka's school milestone of 205 and five touchdowns shy of Chris Olave's Ohio State career record of 35.
