Florida State head coach Mike Norvell shouldered the blame Monday following another shocking Seminoles loss.

"Obviously, tonight, I failed in preparing the team to be able to go out and respond tonight," Norvell said after a 28-13 home defeat to Boston College, according to Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times.

He added: "I apologize to our fans. I apologize to everybody associated with the program. That was extremely disappointing that we're not better. ... In all phases, we weren't good."

Boston College dominated the line of scrimmage, significantly outgaining Florida State in rushing yards 263-21. Seminoles quarterback DJ Uiagalelei finished the evening with 21 completions on 42 attempts for 272 yards and one touchdown against one interception. FSU is now 0-2 just a year after the school won the ACC following an undefeated campaign.

Georgia Tech stunned Florida State 24-21 in its season opener in Ireland last week.

"We've been knocked down. We know how to get up, but we've got to go do that," Norvell said.

Florida State is just the third FBS team over the last 45 years to lose its first two games of a season as a double-digit favorite, according to ESPN.

Cameras showed fans in Tallahassee leaving Doak Campbell Stadium with five minutes left in the fourth quarter. Florida State supporters also booed Uiagalelei at one point, while Norvell didn't give a clear answer postgame when asked if he considered benching his quarterback, per Baker.

The Seminoles aren't the only major Florida program that suffered a disappointing home loss this week. The Gators fell 41-17 at home to Miami. It's the first time Florida and Florida State have lost at home by at least 15 points on the same weekend since 1973, notes Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.
