Wake Forest's Jamie Newman enters transfer portal, Oregon reportedly interested
Wake Forest's star quarterback Jamie Newman announced Tuesday that he's entering the transfer portal and will finish his collegiate career at a different school.
The redshirt junior was a strong performer with the ACC program this season, throwing for 2,868 yards and 26 touchdowns while also rushing for 574 yards and six scores.
"This has been a tough decision but I am excited about what the future holds," Newman said in a statement. "My decision has been primarily based on my need to develop further and my desire to stretch myself and prepare for the next level."
Newman is eligible to play in the 2020 season because he's earned his bachelor's degree, and it appears the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder already has at least one suitor. A source told Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports there's mutual interest between the quarterback and Oregon. The Ducks are losing star pivot Justin Herbert to graduation following the season.
