Wichita State is internally investigating head coach Gregg Marshall in response to multiple allegations of misconduct, the school confirmed.

The university launched its investigation after a player made a complaint to university administrators regarding Marshall's conduct before transferring away from the program this year, sources told The Athletic's CJ Moore and Dana O'Neil.

Marshall, 57, confirmed the school had conducted interviews but did not specifically address the allegations. He told Moore and O'Neil in a text message that he "fully participated in the process" and looks forward to "having it wrapped up."

Multiple former players reportedly told school investigators that Marshall ran to punch former Shockers forward Shaquille Morris in the upper back after telling him to "get the f--- out of practice" at a session during the 2015-16 season. Morris had apparently committed what Marshall perceived to be a dirty foul on teammate Zach Brown and was said to be leaving the gym when the head coach suddenly struck him.

Morris did not respond to a request from The Athletic to comment.

Two witnesses also reportedly told investigators the head coach put one hand around a staff member's neck and scolded them after expressing his dissatisfaction with a workout session led by the staffer in question during the 2015-16 preseason.

Marshall has been the head coach of Wichita State's men's basketball team since the 2007-08 season. He led the Shockers to seven consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2011-18, including a trip to the Final Four in 2013.
