Georgia star freshman Anthony Edwards is declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft, he told 247Sports' Evan Daniels.

He's expected to be an early selection and could go first overall.

"I think I should go No. 1, no doubt," Edwards said. "That's the only place I think I should go."

Edwards, a 6-foot-5 guard, has risen to the top of several mock drafts in recent weeks. The 18-year-old finished third in the Southeastern Conference in scoring per game, and he was also named the SEC Freshman of the Year. He showed flashes of impressive defense with Georgia while establishing himself as one of the better two-way players in college.

"I just feel like I got the physical tools," he told Daniels. "I feel like my body frame is already there and I’m going to stay in the gym and continue to get better."

Edwards has signed with agent Omar Wilkes of Octagon, sources told Daniels.

The former five-star recruit averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 32 games with the Bulldogs this season.

The NBA draft is currently still scheduled for June 25 despite the season suspension due to the coronavirus outbreak. In a memo to teams earlier this month before the 2019-20 campaign was indefinitely postponed, the league warned that related draft events - such as the pre-draft combine - could be canceled entirely.
