Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant injured his left hamstring Thursday while facing the Memphis Grizzlies for the first time in his career.
The Grizzlies traded Morant to the Blazers over the offseason after a seven-year tenure that began with loads of promise but ended in chronic turbulence.
Morant scored 14 points in 23 minutes before being declared out. The Grizzlies won the contest 124-103, improving to 5-0 while dropping the Blazers to 3-1.
Morant downplayed his first-ever encounter with his former team beforehand, saying Wednesday he's "not a big grudge guy." For what it's worth, he chose "Cross Me" to serve as Portland's pregame warmup song.

The Blazers and Grizzlies don't play each other again until February, when they'll meet for a pair of contests in Memphis.
Morant is averaging 15.8 points over his first four appearances for the Blazers.
