Phoenix Suns center Mark Williams will be sidelined for an extended period of time after suffering a torn shoulder labrum in a recent offseason workout, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The 7-footer reportedly underwent surgery Thursday.
The 24-year-old started 55 games last season after being traded from the Charlotte Hornets the offseason prior. Williams averaged 11.7 points and eight rebounds in 60 total appearances, helping a new-look Suns squad return to the playoffs. He missed all but one of the team's 16 games in March due to a stress reaction in his left foot.
Williams re-signed with the organization in June on a fully guaranteed three-year, $38-million contract.
The Suns open their 2026-27 campaign on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 21.
