Magic's Suggs sidelined with hip contusion
An MRI confirmed Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs sustained a left hip contusion, the team announced Monday.
Suggs' return to action is dependent on his response to treatment.
The fifth-year combo guard sustained the injury in Saturday's NBA Cup semifinal defeat to the New York Knicks. He exited in the fourth quarter due to left hip soreness and did not return.
Suggs' injury is the latest setback for a Magic squad that's dealt with absences from several key contributors this season.
Forward Franz Wagner is currently unavailable due to a high ankle sprain suffered in another defeat to the Knicks on Dec. 8. There's no timeline for Wagner's return, but an MRI revealed no structural damage. Paolo Banchero was also sidelined for 10 games with a left groin strain before returning Dec. 5.
The Magic sit fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 15-11 record ahead of Thursday's meeting with the Denver Nuggets.
