The Detroit Pistons signed center Jalen Duren to a five-year, $200-million contract, his agents told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The agreement ends a protracted offseason saga between the two sides. A restricted free agent, Duren was reportedly frustrated with Detroit's earlier offers and was considering taking a one-year, $9.6-million qualifying offer. That would have allowed him to test unrestricted free agency next summer but the All-NBA center had until the end of Thursday to decide to go that route.
Duren, 21, did not attend the team's media day Monday with a new deal yet to be reached.
The 6-foot-10 center averaged 19.5 points in 70 starts, adding 10.5 rebounds and two assists on 65% shooting in 2025-26. He struggled in the postseason, however, scoring single digits in seven of 14 playoff games, including seven points in Game 7 of a second-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He earned All-Rookie second-team honors in 2022-23 after averaging 9.1 points and 8.9 boards.
