Draymond fined, not suspended for punching Poole
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been fined but won't be suspended for punching teammate Jordan Poole in practice last week, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters late Tuesday night.
Green is expected to take part in the team's final preseason game on Friday and suit up to begin the regular season.
The former Defensive Player of the Year struck Poole last Wednesday, and video of the incident was leaked on Friday. Green then announced he would take time away from the team while he continued to work on himself and give his teammates space.
Kerr said that Poole and Green have talked since the incident, noting that they "had a great conversation that will help us move forward," according to 95.7 The Game's John Dickinson.
"I trust him. He broke our trust with this incident. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because he's earned that, and I think our team feels the same way," Kerr added, according to ESPN's Marc Spears.
Lost amidst the drama of the situation, the defending champion Warriors will receive their championship rings before their home opener on Oct. 18 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
