Midway through Sunday’s Chase finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, NASCAR announced that crew chief Chad Knaus and members of Hendrick Motorsports had been called to the NASCAR hauler following the race.

NASCAR’s Managing Event Director David Hoots said that Knaus ignored a NASCAR directive and wanted to discuss it with the team following the race.

After the race, NASCAR said that Knaus wanted to glue a wheel spacer onto one of the wheels of the No. 48 car, but was told not to.

Knaus did it anyway, and NASCAR wasn't too pleased by the move.

NASCAR's vice president of competition Robin Pemberton dismissed the issue after the race, saying "it wasn't a big deal, we just wanted to talk about it." Pemberton also confirmed that there would be no penalties to the No. 48 team.

Wheel spacers are used in NASCAR to space the wheel away from the car on larger tires.
