Ian Machado Garry is growing impatient with UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev.
Garry, the No. 2-ranked welterweight, said Friday in an Instagram post that he's "ready" to challenge Makhachev for the title and is waiting for him to agree to the fight.
"First, you say you have a hand injury, (UFC CEO) Dana (White) said August, you're saying July. I've been ready since you last turned me down in May," Garry wrote. "We're all waiting on you, princess."
Garry has been eager to face Makhachev since scoring a unanimous decision win over former champion Belal Muhammad at UFC Qatar last November. The 28-year-old Irishman is riding a two-fight winning streak and is 10-1 in the Octagon overall.
While the UFC has yet to announce Makhachev's first title defense, Garry and No. 3-ranked contender Michael Morales are the front-runners. Makhachev, a former lightweight champion, captured the 170-pound belt with a dominant win over Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 at New York's Madison Square Garden last November.
In March, White said that the 34-year-old Dagestani was nursing a lingering hand injury.
Makhachev responded to Garry on Friday on X, revealing he's primed to return to the Octagon.
"Don't worry about my injuries," Makhachev wrote. "I'm ready at any time. I'm waiting for the contract."
Makhachev has already put together one of the best resumes of all time. He's won 16 in a row dating back to 2016, tying Anderson Silva for the longest winning streak in UFC history. Makhachev defended the 155-pound throne four times - against Alexander Volkanovski (twice), Dustin Poirier, and Renato Moicano - before moving up in weight last year.
