Jorge Masvidal wants to get back into the Octagon sooner rather than later.

The UFC welterweight contender said Wednesday night he hopes his next fight will take place in either November or December. Masvidal is coming off a loss to champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 251 in July and has been campaigning for a rematch ever since.

"My opponent (Usman) has a broken nose," Masvidal said, according to ESPN. "He's gonna be out for a couple days due to me. ... I think next week we're gonna find out just how long he's out for, and then we can start determining who will be the next fight and where."

Masvidal wants a second opportunity against Usman because he took last month's bout on less than a week's notice. Usman was originally scheduled to defend his belt against Gilbert Burns but the No. 1 contender tested positive for the coronavirus and was pulled from the main event.

UFC president Dana White said recently that Burns - not Masvidal - will be Usman's next opponent.

Masvidal, one of the most popular fighters in the promotion, saw his three-fight winning streak come to an end after the lopsided decision versus Usman in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. "Gamebred" earned finishes of Darren Till, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz in 2019.
