Snitker perplexed by Braves' 0-7 start: 'Don't wish this on anybody'

The Atlanta Braves are off to an 0-7 start this season following a stunning walk-off loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, which has left manager Brian Snitker searching for answers.

"I don't wish this on anybody in a competitive arena," Snitker said, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

"What we're going through is tough, very tough. Everybody knows it. Those guys in there are more aware of it than y'all are. They feel it. It's hard. And there's nothing you can do but to fight your way out of it."

The Braves' seven consecutive defeats mark their worst start to a season since 2016 when they lost nine straight. It's the fifth time the franchise has begun a campaign 0-7 in the modern era, according to Bowman.

Numerous factors are contributing to Atlanta's lack of success, like a league-worst .151 batting average and an inability to hit with runners in scoring position, and some Braves players are shouldering the blame.

"From a personal standpoint, it's honestly embarrassing what I've displayed offensively," third baseman Austin Riley said after beginning the season in a 3-for-27 slump.

"I've got a lot of work to do. It's embarrassing."

Snitker believes things will turn around for his club when it heads to Atlanta for its home opener against the Miami Marlins on Friday.

"We put ourselves here," the manager said. "We've just got to keep fighting and get ourselves out of it."
