Report: Braves showing interest in Buehler
The Atlanta Braves are showing early interest in free-agent right-hander Walker Buehler, reports MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
Buehler was not extended a qualifying offer by the Los Angeles Dodgers, so he will not require any draft-pick compensation if he signs with another club.
The 30-year-old struggled through injuries over the past few seasons and posted a 1-6 record with a 5.38 ERA, a 1.55 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts across 75 1/3 innings in 2024.
Buehler rediscovered his form during Los Angeles' run to a championship. He put together consecutive scoreless starts against the New York Mets in the NLCS and the New York Yankees in the World Series. Buehler also earned the save in the Dodgers' decisive Game 5 victory to clinch the Fall Classic.
The Braves are currently projected to enter the 2025 campaign with a rotation that includes NL Cy Young favorite Chris Sale, Reynaldo López, Spencer Schwellenbach, Griffin Canning, and Ian Anderson. Spencer Strider is not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season as he continues to rehab from Tommy John surgery in April.
