Max Scherzer's injury-plagued campaign is over.
The Texas Rangers placed Scherzer on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, the club announced Saturday.
The right-hander was scratched from his start against the Seattle Mariners earlier in the day.
Scherzer made only one start for the Rangers since July 30 after recovering from shoulder fatigue and a nerve issue in his arm. The 40-year-old logged a career-low 43 1/3 innings (nine starts) with a 3.95 ERA and 8.3 K/9 in 2024.
The three-time Cy Young winner is slated to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Texas recalled right-hander Gerson Garabito to take Scherzer's spot on the active roster.
