Twins activate Correa from IL for playoff push

The Minnesota Twins reinstated shortstop Carlos Correa from the 10-day injured list, the team announced Saturday.

Correa hasn't played since July 12 due to plantar fasciitis.

The 29-year-old didn't go through a rehab process but told reporters this week that he's "very encouraged" by his progress and it's the best he's felt in a long time, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes.

Correa was slashing .308/.377/.520 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs in 75 games before the injury.

"I'm going in very positive. I feel great," Correa said, per The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman. "Trying to get my rhythm right away and contribute off the bat."

The Twins, who activated outfielder Byron Buxton from the IL on Thursday, are nearly back to full strength with 15 games remaining.

Minnesota is clinging onto the American League's last playoff spot, sitting 2.5 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers and 3.5 games in front of the Seattle Mariners.
