Forget about goal of the tournament - Patrik Schick may have scored the best goal in European Championship history during Monday's 2-0 win over Scotland.

After opening the scoring for the Czech Republic with an exquisite header, Schick ended Scotland's hopes of making a comeback with an absolutely ludicrous goal from 50 yards out.

With David Marshall well off his line, the Bayer Leverkusen forward unleashed a curling strike from the halfway line in the 52nd minute that sailed over the helpless Scotland keeper, giving the Czechs a commanding 2-0 lead at Hampden Park.

The goal was the longest scored at the Euros or a World Cup since 1980.

The Narod'ak spent the rest of the contest expertly denying the Tartan Army's advances, ending the match with a clean sheet and three important points against a team that beat them twice in 2020.

The Czech Republic will attempt to collect another three points against Group D opponents Croatia on Friday, while Scotland looks to rebound from the defeat with a visit to Wembley Stadium to take on England on the same day.
