Batshuayi signs for Borussia Dortmund on loan until end of season
There's a new Batman at Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund loaned Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea until the end of the season as the Belgian striker signed for the German club on Wednesday. The loan was announced after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal for a club-record transfer fee, reportedly valued at £56 million.
According to the Guardian's David Hytner and Dominic Fifield, Dortmund reportedly made it clear that the club wouldn't sell Aubameyang unless a replacement was sourced.
Batshuayi, who pulled on Belgium's shirt at Euro 2016, said: "I want to play as much as possible and score many goals. The World Cup is taking place in the summer."
Batshuayi joined Chelsea from Olympique Marseille in July 2016, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. The product of Standard de Liege made just 12 Premier League appearances, nine of them as a substitute.
