A few thousand French fans were expected for the match.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>The situation was controlled quickly and the fans entered the stadium in time for the match.<h3>Palestinian flags banned</h3><div>
Bernabeu security personnel did not allow fans to enter the stadium with Palestinian flags, enforcing a policy that was in place even before pro-Palestinian protests made headlines for disrupting the Spanish Vuelta cycling race this weekend. The flags were confiscated from fans who tried to enter with them.
The anti-Israel protests disrupted several stages of the three-week-long Vuelta.
Protesters, who demanded that team Israel Premier Tech be expelled from the Grand Tour event, threw barriers onto the road and clashed with police on Sunday to keep the final stage from being completed as originally planned.

He was 86.Giacomin died of natural causes, a Rangers spokesperson said after the organization learned of the news from his family. A spokesperson for the NHL Alumni Association said Giacomin died at his home Sunday night.Known for puck-handling and leaving the crease before it was common practice for netminders, Giacomin won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie in 1970-71 and backstopped New York to the Stanley Cup Final in '72.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>“Giacomin routinely heard chants of ‘Ed-die! Ed-die!’ from adoring Madison Square Garden crowds,” the NHL said in a statement. (AP) — Scottie Scheffler wanted to stay sharp ahead of the Ryder Cup and the world’s No. 1 player looked every bit of that Sunday, closing with a 5-under 67 to win the Procore Championship for his sixth PGA Tour victory of the year.Scheffler made up a two-shot deficit on Ryder Cup teammate Ben Griffin, who was poised to force a playoff until he three-putted the par-5 18th from 60 feet for par to finish one behind.Griffin, who started the final round with three straight birdies, shot a 70. He had a birdie putt from 5 feet on the 18th that caught the left edge and spun away. It was the second time this year he has finished runner-up to the world’s No. 1 player.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>Scheffler was one of the players who earlier in the year targeted the Procore Championship as a good spot for the Ryder Cup team to play so they could avoid the mistake of two years ago when all but two of them had a month off before the Rome matches.But once the tournament started, Scheffler was all about winning.“I know I was going to have to have another good day,” said Scheffler, who made up eight shots on Griffin over the weekend with a 64-67 finish. “I’m fortunate to be the winner this week.”It was his 19th career victory on the PGA Tour, and now he heads to match play in the Ryder Cup against Europe, which has had the upper hand in these matches the last three decades.Lanto Griffin had as much pressure as anyone, coming into the Fall portion of the schedule at No. 142 in the FedEx Cup in the first year of only 100 players keeping full cards.He delivered a 65 to finish alone in third, his best finish in nearly four years. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley had touchdown runs, and Andrew Mukuba came up with a big fourth-quarter interception of Patrick Mahomes, helping the Eagles to a 20-17 victory that was fueled by Philadelphia's stingy and opportunistic defense.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>“Our job, especially early in the season, is find a way to win. Take pride in winning any way you possibly can. Work to get better throughout the week, and repeat,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said. “I think when you come off a season like we came off last year the expectation is that you're going to pick up where you left off. There are steps to this.”The Eagles (2-0) never seem to stumble over them, either. They've won seven straight and improved to 17-1 in their last 18 games, and they have won three in a row against the Chiefs after falling to them in the Super Bowl three seasons ago.Hurts threw for just 101 yards and Barkley was held to 88 rushing by the Chiefs. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis Colts kicker Spencer Shrader missed one opportunity to beat the Denver Broncos.He made sure it didn’t happen twice.After he came up short on a 60-yard field-goal attempt with no time left, a penalty on the Broncos moved the ball 15 yards closer — well within Shrader's range — and he made the 45-yarder to give the Colts a 29-28 come-from-behind win on Sunday and their first 2-0 start since 2009.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>“The first kick, I felt the pressure coming from the other side of the ball and I just felt like it got in my routine a little bit,” Shrader said. “I kind of got hit after the play so there was a little chaos. I saw the flag was thrown and then it was ‘Reset, reset your mentality, you know you’re getting another opportunity.’ Whatever happened in the past, you've just got to flush it and you've got to rethink your mentality. It's keep your eyes down, follow through straight and make sure it goes through.”Trailing by two with 3:15 left, the Colts played conservatively on their final drive, with Jonathan Taylor running the ball seven times and Daniel Jones throwing only one pass. Those plays netted 26 yards and set up Shrader’s attempt from the Colts logo at midfield that missed short and right.But Dondrea Tillman was flagged for leverage — using a teammate to vault himself into the air to try to block the kick. Broncos coach Sean Payton didn't quibble with the call after the game.Shrader has made all nine of his field-goal attempts this season, including five on Sunday.The Colts celebrated by lifting Shrader into the air as coach Shane Steichen pumped his fist while running onto the field. Steichen was still out of breath at his postgame news conference.“It's electric in there right now,” Steichen said, referring to the locker room. “To win a game like that — Spencer did a hell of a job finishing it there with the kick. We found a way to do it.”Taylor had 25 carries for 165 yards and one TD catch, and he posted his 25th 100-yard game to break a tie with Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson for the second-most in franchise history.Jones had another efficient performance, avoiding any turnovers in his second Colts start. He was 23 of 34 for 316 yards, one TD pass and one TD run — his first 300-yard game since Sept. 17, 2023 for the New York Giants.Indy's defense stiffened after allowing J.K. Dobbins to score on a 5-yard TD run early in the third quarter to give Denver a 28-20 lead. The Colts snuffed out one scoring chance with Cam Bynum's interception inside their 10-yard line and only needed the field goal to win because Wil Lutz's 42-yard try clanked off the right upright with 3:15 to play.“We did a lot of things late in that game to keep ourselves from winning," Payton said. “It’ll be painful to watch that film. There will be a bitter taste for a little while. We put ourselves in position to control the game late. Then, it slipped out of our hands.”The crazy finish epitomized the oddities of a game featuring two offenses that, at times, moved the ball at will against two of last week’s stingiest defenses. Denver had the only three punts of the game. Troy Franklin had a touchdown catch and finished with career bests of eight catches for 89 yards. This week, they opened with two field goals and a TD on their first three drives to make it 10 for 10.The streak ended when tight end Tyler Warren was stopped short of a first down on a fourth-and-1 run with 7:28 left in the first half. Then the Colts lost their cool on Denver's ensuing 50-yard TD drive, drawing four penalties, including an unsportsmanlike conduct call on Indy's sideline after Steichen tossed his hat and ran down the field to argue a pass interference call on third-and-7.InjuriesBroncos: Cornerback Patrick Surtain II, last year's NFL defensive player of the year, needed help to get off the field in the first half with an injured left ankle but returned on the next series after getting the ankle taped. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dak Prescott wasn't thinking late in a wild duel with Russell Wilson about his long personal winning streak against the New York Giants, and probably not about the prospect of Brian Schottenheimer's first victory as a head coach.Plenty of time afterward to savor both.Brandon Aubrey kicked a <a href="https://x.com/NFL/status/1967328763227824213">46-yard field goal on the final play of overtime</a> after a tying 64-yarder to end regulation, and the Dallas Cowboys beat the Giants 40-37 to cap a thrilling back-and-forth between star quarterbacks Sunday.<div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div>The Cowboys (1-1) extended the winning streak against their NFC East rival to nine games — the longest active streak in the NFL among division opponents — and Prescott beat the Giants (0-2) for the 14th consecutive time since losing both starts against them as a rookie in 2016.Schottenheimer — son of the late Marty Schottenheimer, a 200-game winner as an NFL coach — now needs 199 to catch his dad after spending a quarter-century as an NFL assistant.“Told him that game was the epitome of him and his coaching staff, just the resiliency he has,” Prescott said. “He deserved that first win.
