Price, Canadiens edge Lightning to take commanding series lead

Jean-Yves Ahern / USA Today

Carey Price made 27 saves to give the Montreal Canadiens a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 3-2 victory in Game 3 on Sunday. But it was not without a bit of controversy: A goal by the Lightning was disallowed by referee Francis Charron due to goaltender interference.

Brendan Gallagher had a goal and an assist for Montreal and P.K. Subban added two assists while playing a game-high 27:33. Rene Bourque scored his third goal of the series 11 seconds into the game.

Tomas Plekanec recorded the eventual game-winner with this blast from inside the left faceoff circle in the third period:

Ondrej Palat scored in his return to the lineup for the Lightning, who nearly lost Steven Stamkos to a head injury in the second period. Stamkos returned for the third and assisted on Matthew Carle's goal, while Anders Lindback stopped 28 shots in a losing effort.

The Canadiens can sweep the series with a victory at home in Game 4 on Tuesday.
