Canadian Megan Oldham beat out skiing superstar Eileen Gu for the gold medal in the women's big air final Monday at the Milan Cortina Games.

The result marks Oldham's second medal of the 2026 Olympics after she claimed bronze in women's slopestyle.

For viewers in Canada only:

Gu, who competes for China, won silver. The California native was attempting to defend her gold medal from the 2022 Beijing Olympics in the event. This is Gu's second silver of the Milan Cortina Olympics, after placing second in women's freestyle skiing slopestyle.

The 22-year-old became the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Olympics, winning gold in halfpipe and silver in slopestyle at the 2022 Beijing Games.

Oldham, 24, posted a combined score of 180.75 on two jumps, while Gu scored 179.

Flora Tabanelli won bronze for Italy as the host country picked up its 23rd medal of the Games. Italy has already set a record for its most medals in a single Winter Olympics.

Monday's big air finale was delayed by over an hour due to a snowstorm.

Oldham joins Mikael Kingsbury as the only Canadians to win gold at these Olympics. Kingsbury earned Canada's first gold Sunday morning in the Olympic debut of men's dual moguls. Canada now has 11 medals.
