Clark's Iowa jersey retirement could set women's basketball ticket record
Caitlin Clark isn't done setting records.
Iowa announced Wednesday that it will retire Clark's No. 22 jersey during a Feb. 2 game against USC, and unsurprisingly, the contest has become a hot ticket. It's been so hot that it's on pace to become the most expensive ticket in women's basketball history, according to secondary ticket seller TickPick.
The cheapest ticket up for grabs prior to Wednesday's announcement was $283, but that number rose to over $700 by Thursday morning.
The current record for the most expensive women's basketball game ticket was set during Clark's final home game at Iowa on March 25, according to TickPick. The cheapest ticket to that game was $358 for standing room only and $450 for a seat.
Clark averaged 28.4 points, 8.2 assists, 7.1 boards, and 1.5 steals in 139 contests at Iowa and passed Pete Maravich to become the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I history.
The 22-year-old was selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
