Two-time major winner Justin Thomas has Michael Jordan to thank for the first car he purchased as a teenager.

During an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Monday, Thomas recalled how Jordan would often play golf at Harmony Landing Country Club, where his father served as the head professional, while in town for the Kentucky Derby. On one particular visit, the NBA legend invited the then-15-year-old Thomas to be his partner for a round.

"The first couple of years I'd help him out, and finally the third year, the last year they came out, he said - he'd always call me Little Man - he's like, 'Little Man, go get your clubs, you're gonna play the last seven holes with us,'" Thomas said. "And he knew that I played golf, but he didn't know that I was decent, and nobody else definitely had any idea."

When asked how he did, Thomas replied, "I made four birdies in seven holes and helped pay for my first car."

Thomas said Jordan told the rest of the group not to tell him how much they were playing for so he didn't freak out, but he ended up walking away with around $3,000-$4,000.
