Golden Knights' Hill week-to-week with lower-body injury

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, head coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed Wednesday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Danny Webster.

Hill sustained the injury when attempting to make a save in the first period of Monday's 4-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes. He left the game and didn't return.

Hill sports an .888 save percentage in five games after posting a .906 mark with a 32-13-5 record last year. The 29-year-old was Canada's backup at the 4 Nations Face-Off and was one of three goalies to feature on Canada's Olympic orientation roster this summer.

Akira Schmid stopped 23 of 24 shots in relief, and he steps into the starting role in Hill's absence. The 25-year-old is undefeated through four appearances to commence the campaign after primarily featuring in the AHL last season. Schmid has 52 NHL games under his belt, 43 of which came with the New Jersey Devils from 2021-24.

The Golden Knights recalled 22-year-old Carl Lindbom from the AHL on Wednesday. He has a .958 save percentage in two games this season and has yet to make his NHL debut. Vegas' organizational goalie depth also includes the recently signed Carter Hart, who isn't eligible to play in the NHL until Dec. 1. Hart was acquitted of sexual assault in September.
