Kings looking to move down in draft

The Los Angeles Kings currently hold the No. 24 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, but that could change by the time the team is on the clock Friday night.

The draft hosts are looking to move down the board, Kings director of amateur scouting Mark Yannetti told team reporter Zach Dooley.

"I would like to move down," Yannetti said.

Yannetti identified the state-rival San Jose Sharks and the Philadelphia Flyers as logical trade partners.

"Ones that make sense might be San Jose and Philadelphia, especially, would make sense," he said. "You can have too many draft picks, people are starting to realize that, I think. It used to be that more is better, but you're starting to see log jams."

Yannetti added: "This is just me reading a situation, it doesn't mean that (Sharks and Flyers) believe the same thing, but it makes sense for me."

The Kings don't own a second-round pick in this year's draft. After No. 24, they're not up again until Round 3, 88th overall.

The Sharks, meanwhile, pick at Nos. 2, 30, 33, and 53 in the opening two rounds. They notably shipped out picks 14 and 42 to move up to 11th overall to take Sam Dickinson last year.

The Flyers, even after surrendering a pair of picks to land forward Trevor Zegras on Monday, still own six picks in the top 50: Nos. 6, 22, 31, 36, 40, and 48.
