The Ottawa Senators re-signed pending restricted free-agent defenseman Tyler Kleven to a two-year contract with an annual $1.6-million cap hit.

Kleven will still be an RFA at the end of this deal.

"Tyler's game elevated as our season progressed," president of hockey operations and general manager Steve Staios said. "He proved to be a reliable defenseman for us during the playoffs, and we expect his game will continue to mature and develop."

The 23-year-old played 79 games during his rookie campaign in 2024-25, tallying four goals and six assists. He averaged 14:28 per contest in a third-pairing role. Kleven also suited up in all six of Ottawa's playoff contests.

The 6-foot-5, 221-pounder brings size and physicality (105 hits last season) to Ottawa's back end.

The Senators drafted Kleven in the second round in 2020.
