Clutterbuck retires after 17-year career

Cal Clutterbuck announced his retirement from the NHL on Wednesday with a post on Instagram.

Clutterbuck didn't play this past season. The forward's contract with the New York Islanders expired after the 2023-24 campaign.

The 37-year-old spent 11 years with the Islanders and was an effective bottom-six player for much of his career. Clutterbuck is the NHL's all-time hits leader with 4,029, although the stat wasn't officially tracked until 2007-08.

Clutterbuck was a third-round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2006. He spent six seasons with the club before joining the Islanders.
