Devils' Markstrom starts vs. Golden Knights after 11-game absence

The New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom started Sunday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights after missing the last 11 contests with an MCL sprain.
Fellow netminder Nico Daws was optioned to the AHL after Markstrom was activated off injured reserve.
Markstrom suffered the injury Jan. 22. He was set to start for Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off but was forced to miss the tournament.
The 35-year-old has been stellar in his first year in New Jersey following an offseason trade, posting a .912 save percentage in 36 games. His 12.67 goals saved above expected ranked 16th among NHL goaltenders entering Sunday, per Evolving-Hockey.
The Devils went 6-5-0 in Markstrom's absence with Daws and veteran Jake Allen sharing the crease.
