Wednesday's game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames has been postponed due to the wildfires in L.A., the NHL announced.

"Our hearts are with our entire Los Angeles community," the Kings said in a statement. "We appreciate the hardworking first responders who are diligently working to contain the fire and protect our community."

Massive wind-driven fires in the Los Angeles area have left two people dead and others with significant injuries, CNN reports. With the fires burning more than 5,500 acres, over 50,000 people in L.A. county were ordered to evacuate Wednesday morning.

Ash had fallen around Crypto.com Arena, home of the Kings, and the smell of smoke inside the rink was evident Wednesday, according to Sportsnet's Eric Francis.
