Leafs sign Myers to 2-year extension with $850K cap hit
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenseman Philippe Myers to a two-year contract extension with an $850,000 average annual value, the team announced Friday.
Myers has two assists in 11 games this season and has played 17:08 per contest. He signed a one-year contract July 2 with the Maple Leafs and was set to be an unrestricted free agent after the campaign.
The 27-year-old has suited up in 10 of Toronto's past 16 games after playing in only one of the team's first 23 contests. He played three AHL games in November on a conditioning stint.
Myers primarily played in the minors the past two seasons in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization. He accrued 23 points and 67 penalty minutes in 61 games with the Syracuse Crunch in 2023-24 and was tied for fourth in the AHL with a plus-29 rating.
The 6-foot-5, 219-pound blue-liner has played 169 NHL games over parts of seven seasons with the Leafs, Lightning, Philadelphia Flyers, and Nashville Predators. The Flyers signed Myers as an undrafted free agent in 2015.
Myers played for Canada at the 2017 world juniors and 2019 World Championship.
