The Montreal Canadiens will place goaltender Cayden Primeau on waivers Saturday, head coach Martin St. Louis confirmed to reporters, according to Sportsnet's Eric Engels.

Primeau's .836 save percentage and 4.70 goals-against average (GAA) in 11 games represent the worst among NHL netminders with more than one appearance. The 25-year-old has allowed three or more goals in all but one contest this season.

The American has a $890,000 cap hit and is set to become a restricted free agent next summer.

Primeau recorded a .910 SV% and 2.99 GAA in 23 games last season. He has a .884 SV% and 3.69 GAA in 55 appearances over parts of six NHL seasons.

The Canadiens recalled goaltender Jakub Dobes from the AHL's Laval Rocket on Friday. He'll make his NHL debut Saturday against the Florida Panthers, St. Louis confirmed.

Dobes has a .910 SV% and a 2.44 GAA in 14 contests this season. The 23-year-old posted a .906 SV% and a 2.93 GAA in 51 outings in his first AHL campaign last year.

Montreal selected the Czech goalie in the fifth round of the 2020 draft. He played two seasons at Ohio State before signing with the Canadiens in 2023.
