The New Orleans Saints made two marquee signings on the first day of the NFL's legal tampering period.

The Saints are signing running back Travis Etienne to a four-year, $52-million deal, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Additionally, former Buffalo Bills offensive guard David Edwards is inking a four-year, $61-million contract with the Saints, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

A Louisiana native, Etienne joins the Saints after rushing for 1,107 yards with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. He also scored 13 total touchdowns - seven on the ground and six as a receiver.

He profiles similarly to Alvin Kamara, who's under contract through 2026 but has an uncertain future in New Orleans. Kamara, 30, averaged a career-low 3.6 yards per carry last season and carries a $10.4-million cap hit next season, per Over the Cap.

Etienne was selected in the first round of the 2021 draft and has compiled 5,136 yards from scrimmage over his four-year career.
